Companies often struggle with the implementation of information systems. Bringing in and integrating a new IT system sounds a lot easier than it is to do in practice. 

Productivity decreases: Staff have to be trained how to use the new system so that takes up time that would otherwise be used to be productive. There is a high risk there will decline in productivity during a software implementation. Not only is this a threat to the ROI of the new software, but it can also lead to decreased morale among staff. If this happens it could lead to a high staff turnover and do more good than bad overall.

Integrity of data: The danger with not keeping a close eye on data integrity during the migration is that you could lose important information related to customers. If information is lost or misconstrued during a transfer, the data could be compromised and unreliable. It is important to make sure all information related to customers is accurately transferred from one system to another.

Lack of support from the supplier: When I was on my work placement there was an issue with setting up a new system the school got for doing tests with the students. We had to call the suppliers helpline for help and I have to say without them we would not have been able to work the system properly. I can only imagine being left in the dark with no help from the supplier of the new system. It would be a big struggle and probably an absolute disaster.

Preparedness of employees: It is crucial to have the employees well informed about when the implementation of this system is coming and to basically have the whole team rallying towards one common goal. If this is not the case there may be tension in the workplace as employees may become angry and frustrated at the new system and may lobby to bring the new system back.
